<![CDATA[Paint on Wood with Watercolour]]>Wed, 15 Nov 2017 02:59:21 GMThttp://pgartistsworkshop.ca/1/post/2017/11/paint-on-wood-with-watercolour.htmlWith Sharron McBride

Date: Thursday, November 16, 2017

Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Class Info:

For the class this coming Thursday, Sharron will be showing us how to paint with watercolour on wood. Using watercolour ground allows you to increase the places you can use your watercolours. The paint reacts differently on the ground than on paper so a few tips are handy to know.

PLEASE RSVP for this class. We will paint on a board that needs to be prepped 72 hours in advance. Boards will be available at the class, but you must let us know by Monday evening if you are coming so we know how many to purchase and treat.....I will try to have a few extras. The boards will be $3.50 (cost of boards only) and the AW will purchase the watercolour ground. If you have watercolour ground at home you can bring your own treated board.

Please bring your usual watercolour supplies (paints, brushes, water containers, paper towel, Kleenex) along with a pencil (a harder one like an HB or F doesn't smear), an eraser and any other items you would normally use. A simple style works best so if you have a photo for drawing you like, bring it along.

Due to allergies we request that attendees do not wear perfume or cologne to the workshop. Thanks for helping us keep this a safe place to play for all.

Non-Member drop in fee is $10.

Please RSVP Sharron MacBride at macbride.sharron@gmail.com OR use the form below if you are planning to attend so we can configure the studio space accordingly.

<![CDATA[Two Rivers Exhibit Opening]]>Thu, 19 Oct 2017 01:40:49 GMThttp://pgartistsworkshop.ca/1/post/2017/10/two-rivers-exhibit-opening.html
See You @ The Two Rivers Gallery Date: Thursday, October 19, 2017

Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Class Info: This week we are meeting at the Two Rivers Gallery to see two exciting openings.
Below find the information from the Two Rivers web site.

Z'otz* Collective. Dual Miracle (Dunlop Art Gallery, Regina, SK), 2013. Ceramic sculpture.

Transitory Tributes Z'otz* Collective Z'otz* Collective is comprised of three artists with Latin American roots, based in Toronto:
Erik Jerezano, Ilyana Martinez and Nahum Flores.
The collective will travel to Two Rivers Gallery to create a site-specific drawing along one wall of our exhibition space.
Using the concept of niche, riffling on the idea of small shrines in the Catholic faith, and connecting with nesting in French (Nicher: to nest),
small boxes will be used throughout the installation as respositories of locally collected items.
Like points on the map, they will divide the installation into individual stories and suggest a greater connection to place and community.

Lou Lynn. Twisted Spoon, 2012. Glass and bronze.

Envisioned/Revisioned Lou Lynn Lynn's glass and bronze sculpture draws from an interest in archaic and industrial tools and artifacts.
Forms might draw cues from utilitarian objects or have their genesis in some practical application,
but Lynn hijacks these elements. Altering size, configuration and other plastic elements,
she builds implements with a mastery that suggests precision and purposefulness at odds with the resulting work.
Fitting somewhere between the familiar and the impractically absurd,
they at times resemble the specialized tools of some long lost or secret trade or unfamiliar occupation.
Collectively they allude to activities outside our spheres of experience and, as convincing artefacts,
prompt us to test assumptions about our reality, past and present.
