Class Info:

We will delve briefly into the history of pointillism and then work from a photo reference to develop your own version of pointillism in black and white.  Once into the swing of dot-making, you'll find it relaxing and absorbing.

Please bring:
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • White drawing paper
  • 05 Micron pigma pen or equivalent
  • Black and white photo of a simple still life, flower or human head shot.  The photo should have some nice strong value changes.

Due to allergies we request that attendees do not wear perfume or cologne to the workshop. Thanks for helping keep this a safe place to play for all.

Join us for the launch of two new exhibitions at Two Rivers Gallery! 

And... marks the 150th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada. Featuring work by artists from across BC, this exhibition aspires to examine the accomplishments and the failures of the last 150 years.

Through the work of Tara Nicholson, Patrick Dunford, Jeremy Herndl and Susan Barton-Tait, Broken Paths documents and reflects the intrepid spirit, the human need for shelter and its imprint on the world.

IMPORTANT: We will be meeting in the Jack Bryan Room in the same building as our studio.  Please come in the back door off the parking lot at the far right.  It is the room right below our studio.   

Class Info: 

A look at the life and art of Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky....a Russian painter and art theorist who is often credited with painting the first recognized purely abstract work of art.  We will explore a little about his life and a lot about his fascinating journey as an artist.  Colour and form were his strengths.  To try our own Kandinsky inspired art the soft mediums work well. Supplies to bring:

  • Pencil or charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, coloured pencils, and for the brave, ink and gouache or even watercolours.
  • Paper to match your chosen medium.....at least 8 1/2 x 11 Pencil, eraser, rulers, protractors/triangles, compass and/or old cd's to draw in lines and curves or whatever mark making tools interest you.
  • Any extra tools you normally use in the working of the medium you choose and any pictures that inspire you that could be converted to an abstract piece of awesome art

Step out of the ordinary and crack open the door to your own creative world with this delightful series of exercises sure to get the original juices flowing.  This class has an exciting literary component along with drawing and collage design work that will set you a path to make intuitive storytelling art.  If you're in a painting rut - this funny class is for you!

Supplies to bring:
  • Pencils, charcoal, conte
  • Pen
  • letter size paper (copy paper is fine)
  • Magazines to cut letters, words, images from
  • Glue Stick or other collage glueing mediums
  • 4 - 6x6 cover stock paper pieces
  • Scissors
  • Your imagination!
